48 persons have been detained during operations in sections of the Kingston Western division, which are now under a curfew.
A high powered weapon was recovered by the police.
Police say the gun a bush master rifle was seized in the Bread Lane area of Hannah Town.
The curfew began at 1:00 a.m. Thursday and will remain in effect until 1:00 a.m. Saturday.
It appears the curfew was imposed to support police operations in downtown Kingston.
The boundaries of the curfew are north along Asquith Street, onto Studley Park Road, between East Road, and Slipe Pen Road.
South along Barry Street, from Darling Street to Church Street.
East along Slipe Pen Road, onto North Street, to Church Street, continuing to Barry Street
West along Darling Street onto Spanish Town Road, continuing onto Little King Street, to East Road.
During the curfew, persons within its boundaries are required to remain within
their premises, unless authorized in writing by a member of the
security forces, who is in charge of enforcing the curfew.
