Dancehall artiste Beenie Man is greeted by Sister Shirley Chung, director of Alpha Boys' School, at a function yesterday morning to announce that two of Jamaica's top reggae singers — Beres Hammond and Freddie McGregor — have joined the line-up for the school's benefit concert scheduled for tomorrow at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston.
Sharing the moment are Joylene Griffiths-Irving, public relations director of the Rotary Club of Kingston and co-ordinator for the concert; and Richard Josephs, president of the Rotary Club of Kingston.
Beenie Man, is among a long list of performers being featured on the show. The list includes Tarrus Riley, Kymani Marley, D'Angel, Khago, Gyptian, Bounty Killer, Mavado, Richie Stephens, the Alpha Boys' Big Band, the Omega Element Band, the Jamaica Military Band and Dubtonic Kru among others.
The event aims to raise $15 million which will be used to refurbish the Alpha Boys' Home, improve the sporting facilities, upgrade the farm and establish an endowment fund. (Photo: Garfield Robinson)
