DANCEHALL artiste G Whizz is back on the rock following what he is describing as a successful three week promotional tour of Japan to promote his album Who Jah Bless released in that country on July 20.
The artiste explains that the tour consisted of 10 shows in different sections of the reggae/dancehall-loving country. The album features 19 tracks and even a collaboration with dancer turned singjay Ding Dong.
In a recent interview with Splash, the artiste born Garland Rowe says he still basking in musical glory from the warm reception and support he got from the Japanese people. "It was an exceptional feeling as I was the main act and the the people of Japan made me feel at home. They knew my older songs word for word, and embrace the ones that they were not familiar with. I can easily say this tour is one of my biggest achievements since the launch of my career."
He went on to say that other than performing for a crowd of approximately 40,000 fans he had fond memories that will last a lifetime.
According to G Whizz, he and his team had a scary moment a few days into their stay in Japan. "We were staying on the ninth floor of the hotel. I was awaken from my sleep by this sudden shaking, the entire room trembled for about 30 seconds. I must admitbI was frightened as I remembered the tsunami that had took place months ago. "I woke all of those who were on the tour up and we hurriedly took the stairs to the ground floor. To our amazement we realised that everyone was going about their usual business unstirred . We were the only one who seemed frightened. Apparently tremors have become a norm for them" a laughing G Whizz says.
Close to the ending of his stay in Japan, the Bartender artiste says he was called for an autograph-signing session at a record store. "I really expected no more than about 50 persons but when I got to the store there were hundreds of persons in line waiting to have their album and other items autographed. In addition to that, all the Who Jah Bless albums inside the record store was sold out. It is unbelievable how much our music is appreciated abroad," he says.
Who Jah Bless features productions from Sean Nizzle, TJ Recors, Cash Flow, Icon Music, Famshouse Production, Mossimor Records, Digital One Production to name a few.
The singjay is currently busy in the recording studio putting final touches to several singles including Love Her Up, and Haffi Win whilst anticipating a tour of Europe later this year.
