POLICE have seized two illegal guns and ammunition in separate operations in Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew and Portmore, St
Catherine.
The St Catherine South police report that lawmen carried out an
operation at Happy Valley Close in Portmore, where a search of the area
turned up a black plastic bag containing sixty-four 12-gauge cartridges
and fourteen .380 cartridges.
One man was taken into custody in relation to the find.
Another operation was carried out in Zambia, Central Village and a
number of premises and vehicles were searched. During the search of a
vehicle, a Sig Pro 9 mm pistol, bearing serial number SP0073456, and ten
9 mm cartridges were found.
Two men were taken into custody for questioning; their identities are also being withheld pending further investigations.
Operations carried out by the St Andrew North Police led to the seizure of an illegal firearm and ammunition this morning.
The Lawrence Tavern Police report that about 1:45 am while patrolling
the Claypole district in the Top Road community, officers stopped a grey
Honda Integra motor car with three men on board.
Police say one of the men alighted from the vehicle and opened fire at
the officers and ran, leaving the driver and the other man behind.
A search of the car was carried out and a .38 revolver with the serial number erased and six live rounds were found.
The men have since been taken into custody for questioning.
