JCDC PLANS ISLAND WIDE CELEBRATION FOR MS LOU

The birth of Jamaica’s Cultural Icon Louise Bennett-Coverley is being celebrated today.  

 

Miss Lou as she was affectionately known would have turned 92. Miss Lou was born on this date 1919. 

Through her expressive poetry, storytelling and good humour, Miss Lou conveyed the passion of Jamaicans and their language. 

 

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission JCDC will be celebrating the birth of this legend in several parishes.  JCDC Executive Director Delroy Gordon gives us the 411.

Jamaica’s first lady of comedy died in Toronto Ontario Canada on July 26, 2006.
