Telecommunications giant LIME will once again stage its back-to-school event dubbed Skool Aid today at the Jamworld entertainment complex in Portmore, St Catherine.
"Everything is now in place for us to welcome over 50,000 patrons for a fun-filled day of activities in preparation for the new school year" says Stephen Miller, LIME Skool Aid project manager.
According to Miller, Skool Aid represents one of the major community outreach activations for the LIME, one of whose key pillars is the support of youth and education.
Patrons will be able to access health and dental checks, immunisations, vision checks as well as haircuts for boys. Several new elements have also been added including the Powerade SportsZone and free mathematics tutoring from the Math Junkies.
The telecoms company will also be showcasing the recently launched FLIPtop - a low cost PC which is perfect for students. In addition, school supplies including bags, books, stationery, uniforms and shoes, will be available at specially discounted prices from various suppliers and distributors.
"We also will be providing free school bags for children filled with supplies and tokens from our partners. We understand the pressure that parents face particularly at this time of year and so we also hope to ease some of that with the useful services that we will be providing free of cost", Miller adds.
He further pointed out that other corporate entities including Wysinco, Colgate, KIWI and Sangsters have joined forces with LIME and will be participating in the event.
A large core of LIME employee volunteers, several social agencies and other private institutions will be on site to assist with the activity.
The LIME back to school fair will also feature loads of entertainment, including live performances by Etana, QQ, Alaine and others. LIME will also be creating one of the largest temporary amusement parks ever assembled in Jamaica, with nearly 20 rides and attractions, from arcade games to simulated biking, rock climbing, waterslides and more.
