MAN DECIDES TO DROP MATTER AGAINST MAVADO BUT POLICE SAY OTHERWISE

Police say they will arrest entertainer Mavado, although the man who filed a complaint against him, has decided to drop the matter. 

The man had filed a report, alleging that he and his son were assaulted by Mavado and members of his entourage, on Belmont Road in St James on Friday night. 

Since then, the cops who named Mavado as a person of interest, have been urging the artiste to turn himself in for questioning. 

Police say Mavado has failed to heed their calls. 

The man who brought the artiste's name to the police, has reportedly decided to discontinue the matter. 

He reportedly told the police that the artiste has offered to compensate him for the damage done. 

However, the St. James police say they will go ahead and arrest Mavado, adding that it is the court that is to decide if it will allow the matter to be dropped.

 

This afternoon, senior superintendent in charge of St James, Linette Williams-Martin confirmed that a warrant has been prepared and is ready for Mavado to be arrested. 

Reports to the police, are that the complainant parked his car at a particular spot in anchovy St. James on Friday night.

 

Members of Mavado's entourage drove up and demanded that the complainant remove his car so that the artiste could have used the area. 

The complainant stood his grounds. 

It was at point, that members of the entourage allegedly attacked the complainant and his son, badly beating them. 

During the fracas, Mavado allegedly used his vehicle to hit the car that the complainant was driving. 

Mavado's management team has described the incident as a misunderstanding. 

Friday’s alleged fight is the latest of three incidents of the sort within months, involving Mavado and his entourage. 

The first incident took place in St. Ann, but the complainant in that matter went before the court and had the charges against Mavado dropped. 

The second matter arouse out of a deadly fracas at a nightclub in Kingston.
