CONTROVERSIAL deejay Vybz Kartel is at it again.

This time the artiste who has been enjoying success over the past few years, is now encouraging Jamaicans to scar their bodies with tattoos in his latest video amidst his skin-bleaching promotion.

It's the latest controversial single by the deejay who promoted cake soap as a skin-lightening product.

"Tattoo time come/all of the space on the skin soon done/ If you no have none go get some, get some," he toasts in the video for his latest single Colouring Book on the New Moon riddim (track).

Tattoos have ballooned in popularity within the US and Jamaica black culture due to endorsements by entertainers and athletes. Many of those tattooed seem to have sacrificed quality for quantity whilst utilising artisans rather than artistes.

"Tattoo sell off everyone have to look/ Gal a say mi skin pretty like a colouring book," he sings alluding to his skin inked by scores of tattoos.

Kartel has said he lightened his skin to make his tattoos more visible. Colouring Book is a single from the album Empire Universe: Second Chapter, which was released on iTunes and all digital outlets earlier this week.

"Mi mark up like school book/ a di new look," he said. "Mi start but mi can' stop every day mi say this is mi last two/ Lil Wayne me soon pass you."

Kartel ignited a fire storm and multiple musical counteractions, when he claimed in an interview that the reason for his noticeably lighter complexion was as a result of the use of cake soap (a bar of laundry detergent) combined with the effect of air conditioning. Cake soap was initially referenced in 'Straight Jeans and Fitted'. He subsequently released, Cake Soap for which a video was shot. Blue Power Group Limited, which manufactures cake soap, stated that they were approached by one of Vybz Kartel's producers to use the company equipment for a video shoot. The company agreed on condition that "they must tell people that the blue soap that we make will have no effect on bleaching the skin", according chairman Dr Dhiru Tanna.

Kartel has expressed the desire to manufacture his own brand of cake soap.
