The curtains for the 2011 staging of Reggae Sumfest close after three nights of pulsating live performances.

The stage was spectacular, lighting and sound was good and the necessary measures were in place to prevent another mud fest from happening.

Dancehall night however, saw the biggest turnout of the festival.

On Friday international night 1 despite no R Kelly people turned out. The night belonged to Beres Hammond who was on top form. The massive gathered sang along with the king of lover’s rock as he belted out hits after hits.  Beres was also honoured by the festival for his contribution to reggae music.

Coco Tea who was added to the festival last minute following R Kelly’s hospitalization was on fire! Coco Tea poked fun at R Kelly during his very entertaining set and the crowd went wild when he blurted out that “R Kelly cyaa cross it”.

Christopher Martin worked it and delivered an entertaining set. Tanya Stephens was refreshing and she too had the massive singing along especially the ladies. Iba Mahr also represented Prophecy and Paul Elliott.

Legendary Bunny Wailer took the stage in the wee hours to close international night 1. Many stayed for his performance while others strolled out the Catherine Hall venue.

Then on Saturday, International 2 got a bigger turnout than international night 1.

Rapper Nicki Minaj worked the stage and her dancers definitely added life to her performance. During her set it sometimes appeared as if Nicki was lip-syncing. Nonetheless, she got a few forwards for songs such as Right Thru Me, Super Bass, Dungeon Dragon, Dutty Love and Moment for Life. Nicki Minaj also stirred up some controversy by dropping expletives during her set; something Jamaican entertainers aren't allowed to do during their performances.

Wayne Wonder delivered. The patrons enjoyed his old hits. Singer Mya made an appearance during his set but was not very effective.

Protoje was militant and blazed an entertaining fire and Cherine Anderson did her thing.  

The curtains for Reggae Sumfest 2011 closed on in the wee hours Sunday morning with Chalice.
