Several Roads In Jamaica Flooded After Heavy Rains

Heavy rains lashing most of the island left several roads flooded, blocked, or reduced to single access yesterday.

The National Works Agency (NWA) says sections of Manchester, St. Andrew, St. Thomas, and Portland, were under water.

There are also reports that sections of Marcus Garvey Drive, near Tinson Pen, were also flooded.

In Manchester, the roads from Dump to Moravia, and Alston to Christiana, were reduced to single lane access, due to landslides.

The corridor from Papine to Bull Bay in St. Andrew was impassable at Cane River, as massive boulders blocked a section of the road.

In St. Thomas, the roads from Morant Crossing to White Hall, Negro River to Hall Head, and Port Morant to Pleasant Hill, were also feeling the onslaught of the heavy rain.

The NWA also reported a massive breakaway on the road from Morant Crossing to White Hall. The onslaught of rain is expected to continue today.
