According to the world governing body’s list of sanctioned athletes, Fraser will
become eligible for competition again on January 7, 2011.
Fraser was provisionally suspended in May after returning a positive test for Oxycodone at the
IAAF Diamond League meet in Shanghai,C china on May 23.
World and Olympic champion Shelly Ann Fraser has been officially handed a six months ban by the
International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), for using the
prohibited substance Oxycodone.With
the ban now official, it means the IAAF has effectively accepted the
ruling handed down last month by the Jamaica Amateur Athletic
Association’s three member Disciplinary Panel led by retired Chief
Justice Lensely Wolfe.
The panel had initially recommended to the IAAF review board that Fraser be given less than maximum two year ban for her first violation
based on special circumstances surrounding her case.
Fraser ingested Oxycodone, a non-performance enhancing drug, for a toothache prior to competing at
the Shanghai leg of the Diamond League meet.
