Dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel again left his Guyana fans hanging after a no show.
A rep for the promoter, Jamzone Summer Break, told Urban Islandz that the self proclaim Worl’Boss took the promoter money but got off the plane before it departs Norman Manley International Airport.
“Kartel was booked to perform alongside Mavado in Guyana today He took the promoters money went on the plane then came off before it departed NM Airport,” the rep said.
According to the rep, Vybz Kartel cited death threats and the presence of Gullyside deejays Kibaki and 3 Star on said plane as the reason he came off the flight.
“He listed alleged threats as among his many reasons for his no-show and mentioned that he had a dream about snakes also. He cited the presence of Kibaki and 3 Star on the same flight with him as among some of his concerns. This is despite being given security assurances by high ranking government officials. The promoters are now left in a quandary as this is Kartel’s 3rd no-show in Guyana.”
The promoters said they pay Vybz Kartel $US50,000 in advance for his appearance on the show with promise of the balance on his arriving in Guyana.
“Vybz Kartel received an advanced payment for his performance totaling over US$50,000. He would be receiving the remainder once he arrives for the show.”
Urban Islandz also learned that there was a chartered aircraft on standby to fly the deejay to Guyana. But Kartel refuse to go on that plane. “Dem got man inna Guyana dat want to kill or kidnap meh,” Vybz Kartel said.
