While listening to a local college reggae show the other night. The announcer said. He would be playing old school reggae, with music made by real musicians. Then he called himself the 6 star general. Now I don't know if he knows who the real 6 star general is? But thats another matter. But this is what got me. Most people in the U.S. don't know is that their is a huge amount of different styles of music coming out of little Jamaica. Where in a world that knows all about nikki minaj and rihanna, but don't know anything about artist like "brick and lace" or any of the chin or chynn sisters (still don't understand that). or any of the stronger Dj's. But if you ask the common reggae follower he will only know reggae stars from the 80's or 70's. as if they are still making new music? So what does this leave the new artist with, when you have these white dj's not giving the new artist a chance. By the way the show was on "kdur" in durango, colorado. So with this happening here what is like all over the rest of the US? and how does this attitude "help or hurt" up and coming artist?
