The Trinidad Civil Aviation Authority has instructed Caribbean Airlines to drop the Air Jamaica Brand from its aircraft, stating that the use of the brand does not comply with the airline operator certificate given to Caribbean Airlines. The regulatory body stated that Caribbean Airlines has been in breach by operating both brands, and would either have to register a new airline in the name of Air Jamaica or repaint the six Air Jamaica aircraft at a cost of US$60,000 per aircraft. According to a Trinidad Express article, Caribbean Airlines head of Corporate Communications confirmed that one Air Jamaica aircraft was already repainted with the Caribbean Airlines logo. Trinidad's Trade, Industry and Development minister will travel to Jamaica to discuss the matter with his counterpart.
