International superstar Akon is planning to release an all-reggae composition after finishing work on his upcoming album Stadium.
This idea was said to have been sparked after his January visit to the island where he wrapped with the Marley brothers, Damian, Julian and Stephen at the Tuff Gong studio in St Andrew.
In an article on Billboard.com, Akon said that it was an honour to be in the environment and be inspired by it. He also said that he was writing three to four songs a day because he was so amped, and that he was surprised that the studio has remained the same over the years.
He also hinted to Billboard.com that there may be a collaborative effort from the Marleys for the project.
"I always said to myself, 'When I get to that position when I can do an all-reggae album, I would love to do it,' and those guys are the best to do it with," he said.
Akon seemed pretty content when he was in Jamaica as he took to Twitter posting pictures and making tweets such as, "In Jamaica making history with Stephen, Damian, and Julian Marley! My brothers!!!! One Love."
He also tweeted, "In Jamaica visiting the Bob Marley Museum" and "Standing in front of Bob Marley's home."
Akon has had collaborations with a few reggae/dancehall artistes, like Tami Chynn in Frozen, and she later signed with his Konvict Muzik label. He also worked with Mavado for Survivor.
He also worked with singing duo Brick and Lace who he had signed to his Kon Live Distribution label.
