Alkaline Faces Resistance From Guyanese

Controversial dancehall deejay Alkaline is set to perform at the Jamzone Summer Break in Guyana but an outreach organization has made it clear that they don’t want the deejay performing there.

Joshua Generation, the Youth Arm of Love and Faith World Outreach Ministries have said they do not support the moves by Hits and Jam Entertainment to have the artist perform at the event. The youth outreach group is hoping organizers will cancel.

Alkaline’s Manager, Kereene Beckford tells Music News she is aware of the article that was published in a Guyanese newspaper but was not informed of any changes to his scheduled performance on island tomorrow (22.08.14).

In a letter sent to the newspaper, the outreach group stated that dancehall deejays like Alkaline and others contribute to the deterioration of the society’s moral standings.

They also want the local radio stations to stop playing his songs.

Alkaline is currently in Guyana awaiting his upcoming performance.
