Is it a kiss of death when a manager decides to sign an artiste?
Well, long before the recent shocking split with Busy Signal and longstanding manager Shane Brown, the music industry have witnessed a number of artist manager breakups where entertainers have fired their managers when their careers are somewhat in full swing or has reached a level.
Let’s take a trek and review some prominent artists who gave their managers the boot. Buju Banton fired Donovan Germain, Beenie Man left Shocking Vibes, Sean Paul fired Jeremy Harding, Shaggy gave longstanding manager Robert Livingston the boot, Jah Cure and DangerZone, Bankelous and Khago, Elephant Man fired Q45 and don’t forget Aidonia and Scatta Burrell.
So are these managers doing something wrong? Or are the entertainers ungrateful?
Veteran broadcaster Ainsworth "Big A" Higgins gives us his perspective.
Producer and former artist manager Scatta Burrell describes the sudden end of an artist manager relationship as heart broken.
So with the exception of Beres Hammond who is still with Mervis and Capleton who remains under the wings manager Claudette Kemp is there any other renowned celeb who are managed by and an individual or entity for just about or more than a decade?
All this concern comes after longstanding manger and producer Shane Brown was sacked by Busy Signal.
