Assassin will be continent hopping this weekend

He flew from Jamaica yesterday, en route to London, where he will perform at Alexandra Palace, representing Jamaica, along with mento band The Jolly Boys, at 'Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project' tomorrow, before another transatlantic flight to headline a concert in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sunday.

"Yeah, it's going to be hectic," said the deejay who also goes by the name Agent Sasco.

Whereas the Florida gig is basically Assassin in concert, the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project features some of the most famous cities in the world swapping nightlife experiences.

Kingston swaps nightlife experience with London tomorrow, hosting its leg at the Smirnoff Arena at Hope Gardens.

The event is a global one taking place in 50 countries, with the goal of getting 10 million people to discover, share and swap the most original nightlife.

Assassin yesterday said being an ambassador of Jamaican music is nothing new to him. "It's what we do every time, head on out to represent Jamaica, dancehall and the reggae community. We're ambassadors at all times, only that this time it's a formal application but, technically, that's what we do every time," he said.

His versatility, he believes, will enable him to shine in London in front of a varied audience. "In general, my fan base covers a wide cross section of people, young to old, a diverse mix, not any one group. I appeal to anybody who loves music and dancehall reggae," he said.

The deejay added that 2011 has been his best year so far. "This year has been a very good year, one of the best, with a couple number ones, Talk How Mi Feel and Run Di Place, number one in Jamaica, and Nutten at All, number one in Antigua," he pointed out.

On Sunday, Assassin said he will headline the concert in Fort Lauderdale, Sunday Breeze.

"I am the featured artiste this week," he pointed out.
