"Dancehall is in jail" this statement was made by Vybz Kartel in a rare voice interview to United Kingdom news publication, The Voice Online.

According to the voice online, Vybz Kartel said that "Dancehall is in jail". Kartel further states and I quote: "Although the fact remains that if I die tomorrow, dancehall will continue, it's also a fact that the next artiste to bring the energy, panache, and 'vybz' to dancehall, isn't here yet."

Vybz Kartel has been incarcerated since September 2011 on two murder charges. The deejay has since been freed from one murder charge while the other is set for trial next month.
