Dancehall artiste Wasp is now fearing for his life after friends of the artiste warned him that men from a neighbouring community were after him.
According to Wasp, this all started after an incident occurred in Cassia Park, which left one man dead and another crippled.
"People from Grants Pen come a one dance a Cassia Park and some shooting gwaan. One a di Grants Pen man dem dead, and the other cripple. So dem say dem want some people from our community fi dead," Wasp told THE STAR.
Wasp went on to say that a popular selector in the Cassia Park area was killed and that he has heard that he is next on the gunmen's list.
"Dem say dem want Wasp next. How dem fi a try mix me up inna dat. Mi a public figure, music a my ting. Dem say dem can't catch the yute whe did do the shooting, so a me dem want," he said.
Although he has not been receiving death threats on his phone, the deejay told THE STAR that reliable sources have informed him that the gunmen were coming for him.
"Dem nuh call me directly pon my phone, but people inna the community tell me say dem a look fi me. It serious! Me a take it serious. Dem waan hit the people where it hurt," Wasp said.
Wasp went on to say that it would have been better if they had reached out to him so that they could come to a peaceful resolution over the matter.
When questioned if he had reported the matter to the police, the deejay said he had not made a formal report because all he has to go on is hearsay. He stated, however, that the police were aware of the situation and have been doing patrols in the area on a regular basis.
"Mi haffi make my fan dem know say anything happen to me, a deh so it a come from. Mi haffi a look out a mi eye dem because a bag a ting a happen. Mi a public figure me caan involve inna dem ting deh. A peace me deal wid," he said.
Due to the threats on his life, Wasp stated that his parents have had to leave the area because their lives were also in danger.
