Dominican Churches call for boycott of Tommy Lee concert

Church group the Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches (DEAC), today called on all Dominicans to boycott a concert featuring Jamaican Dancehall artiste Tommy Lee Sparta. In a release, the DEAC expressed “deep concerns” over the decision by a local business entity/promoter to invite Tommy Lee Sparta to headline a concert, and urged the organisers to review their decision. The DEAC has also called for all Dominicans to boycott the concert and send a strong signal that they will not support anything that promotes violence and lawlessness in the country. “Uncle demon”, “is instructive and clearly speaks to the general persona of the individual. Why would someone assume such a name?” the Church group questioned. A Prayer March in the Dominican town of Portsmouth has been organised by a group of pastors for this Sunday, February 9. Tommy Lee Sparta whose given name is Leroy Russel was among several persons detained in connection with a Lottery Scam probe in New Kingston.
