Gramps Morgan to donate to slain teen's family... A portion of the proceeds from the iTunes sales of his new single

Reggae star Gramps Morgan has announced that he will be donating proceeds from his latest single to the family of murdered teen Trayvon Martin, who was killed in Florida in February.

The single Life Too Short was penned with his brother Peetah Morgan and was co-produced by Gramps Morgan and keyboardist Llamar 'Riff Raff' Brown.

Martin was murdered in South Florida after a crime watch volunteer fatally shot the unarmed teenager.

In an effort to support the Martin family's demand for justice, Morgan's record label, Dada Son, is donating a portion of the proceeds from the iTunes sales of his new single.

"When I wrote Life Too Short I wanted to heal peoples life and give them a sense to know that they should enjoy their life and know we only have a small time on this planet. I read that Trayvon loved reggae music, so donating a portion of the proceeds to the Trayvon Martin Foundation is my contribution to keeping his memory alive," Morgan told THE WEEKEND STAR.

In addition, Morgan is also set to release his second solo album on April 24 titled Reggae Music Lives On. The 13-track album features India Arie on a "roots reggae track that is very balanced with the flavours of reggae".

Since charting his journey as a solo artiste, Gramps says it has been an amazing journey so far: 'I've grown so much and have helped so many people. I thank Buju as a great friend of mine when I started this journey, he gave me a lot of good advice', he said.

Morgan is now getting ready for his Midwest US tour which kicks off mid April. Morgan Heritage will also be heading back to Europe for 'The Return Tour' this summer. "The Return is next, that's what I'm most excited about and my son Jemere Morgan, looking for great things from him as a 16 year old kid," he said.
