Top flight dancehall's act I-Octane is all about giving his fan a double treat with the release of his six-track EP (Extended Play) on December 6 and his highly anticipated debut abum in Janauary 2012.
According to I-Octane, the 17-track album entitled Crying To The Nation will feature new tracks alongside old favorites including My Life, Study You Friend and the 'funeral anthem' Loose A Friend. The artiste went on to say although he is aware that his fans were eagerly awaiting an album he believed the timing is perfect.
"I really don't believe in releasing a few singles then dropping an album shortly after. There are several artistes who do that and several months after they are not heard of . It's really about honing my skills and allowing my fans to really get to know the brand I-Octane. For me it is not about making money alone it is about contributing to the music industry in a positive way like Bob Marley. I would rather get an album that is recognised worldwide than to hurriedly collect a million dollars," he explained.
I-Octane, christened Byiome Muir further explained that he has been approached by several agents who offered album deals to which he declined as he was not comfortable with the terms attached.
When asked about the inspiration behind his songs the Loose A friend artiste says his motivation came from the happenings around him.
"Although some of what I sing about I have not experienced personally, it does happen to other people. People loose their loved ones to death daily so there I got the idea to penned the lyrics to Loose A friend and other singles. There are some believe that I am 'throwing words' but i'm not. My lyrics are those that people can relate to," he says.
