HIGH riding dancehall artiste Khago has received a threatening phone call and has reported the matter to the police.

The deejay's publicity team confirmed that the artiste received a death threat from an unknown caller on Sunday — New Year's day — and they are taking the issue seriously.

"Mi get the phone call at about 9 am on Sunday," said Khago, whose real name is Ricardo Gayle. "The caller say '(expletive deleted) yu a go dead later' and then hang up the phone."

When the Observer contacted the Mandeville Police Station, the officer at the end of line said a report was made, but was not in a position to divulge any information to the media.

During the course of last year, Khago recorded two number one singles with Blood A Boil and Tun Up Di Ting on the Overproof riddim, with the latter also hitting the pole position on the BBC 1Xtra dancehall charts.

The artiste performed at the annual 'Family Fun Day concert in Hope Bay, Portland, on New Year's Day where he gave a powerful performance with his songs including Tax Inna My World, Nah Mek Dem Drain My Energy, and his classic Nah Sell Out Mi Friend Dem and Nah Sell Out Part Two.
