Khago, Jahvinci and Ryno rock St Lucia

Khago, Jahvinci and Ryno were in top form in St Lucia last week when they thrilled the Saamans' Park venue on the island with some good performances.

Hitting the stage singing Blood a Boil, recording artiste Khago pranced onto the stage, waving a white towel, and immediately began to leap all over the stage as he belted out his big dancehall hit. The large crowd which had packed into the venue last weekend to see Jamaica's biggest dancehall stars erupted in a frenzy of towel waving as it roared its approval at the diminutive superstar.

After that initial burst of energy, Khago changed gears neatly into the laid-back segment of his set, with the reggae-flavoured Nah Mek Dem Draw My Energy, and the soulful Gwaan Live My Life, both of which were greeted with finger forwards and lighters. He kicked up things a notch with White Ts and Adidas, and the atmosphere in the venue became more intense when he sang the first few bars of Tun Up Mi Ting on the Overproof rhythm. The forwards rocked the venue like a mini earthquake.

The crowd had hardly settled down before he began to croon Love Stomach with the females singing "you make me see stars, you make me see moon," in one clear voice. Smiling, he paused to introduce his first breakout hit, Caan Cool, and, as he performed the track, the audience rocked to the sweet harmonies.

Khago closed strongly with his monster hit, Nah Sell Out, earning a huge 'forward' from the crowd. He left the stage and the crowd literally screamed for an encore. When he returned, he performed the song again while the crowd sang the chorus word-for-word. After that, he paused to introduceNah Sell Out Part Two, leaving the stage again as a wave of 'forwards' went through the venue from the back to the front of the stage. Yet, the crowd still cried for more and Khago obliged, returning to rock the venue again.

"I felt great that I did so well my first time in St. Lucia, mi love the people, mi love the culture," Khago said in a release.

Corey Todd Records artiste Jahvinci was in awesome form as well rocking the venue with his hit songs. He hit the stage with Please Jah Guide Me and could do no wrong. He gained a lot of respect when he sent condolences to the families of the 17 persons who were killed in a bus accident in the small island nation recently. He performed the hit song, Birthday, and there was not a dry eye in the venue.

He earned an encore for his mega hit, Watch Yuh Friends then again for the uptempoRemedy, and then closed his set with Draw Mi Line.

While Jahvinci was brilliant, former Portmore Empire stablemate Ryno was in scintillating form, earning no fewer than five encores during an electrifying set studded with his big hits. StephenMcGregor alsoperformed.

St Lucia Love Fest was first staged on December 5, 2000, and is a signature event hosted and promoted by radio station Hot FM which seeks to bring an awareness of love and respect among its listenership in the Caribbean.
