Konshens video finds its way to MTV

On the heels of his upcoming album release, Konshens can boast that his music video for World Citizen is now on MTV Iggy.

The video, which was shot in Vienna, Austria, last year, premiered on MTV Iggy on Wednesday and is currently on the homepage of the station's website.

With the digital release of his album, Mental Maintenance, scheduled for February 28, Konshens said he is pleased with the end product.

"It's a good achievement, especially fi a song weh nah play in Jamaica. It show yuh seh work a gwaan and there is much more to reggae and dancehall than the hype weh a happen inna Jamaica," he told THE STAR.

"The timing mek it even more significant. It World Citizen is the first track from the album so it means extra promotion for the album because that station is for the African and European market."

Konshens has been on the rise with songs like Gal A Bubble and Do Sup'm, making waves. The latter of the songs is the lead on the album.

The artiste doesn't feel the interest he is garnering means he has arrived though.

"Just another step; non-stop work, non-stop achievement and mi a break new ground. It is showing that I am more exposed in that European and African market," he said.

Having taken a little more than a year to complete the album, Konshens said he is pleased with the outcome.

"Mi love it, mi satisfied with it totally," he said.

"Dem (fans) cyaah wait. Mi nuh know if dem ago buy, download or bootleg it but people really want it worldwide. It a release digitally February 28 but physically March 6."

Today, Konshens will be hosting a free album release party at The Quad Nightclub in New Kingston that will be open to the general public.

While he intends to do some amount of giveaways at the event, he said there will be "no talking or singing, just party."

"Mi already have the album listening session and live show so this time mi just want fi party with the fans," he said.

But that is not the only thing on his plate at the moment. Konshens said he has recent releases like the 'Tek On' rhythm, which is co-produced by D&H Records from France.

The rhythm features acts like Konshens, Beenie Man, Delus, Tamarley, Leftside, Tarrus Riley, Chris Dymond, Voicemail and others. There is also the 'Reset' rhythm that features himself as well as Tarrus Riley, Mark Hize and Timeka Marshall.

In addition to the many songs that he has recorded and produced, Konshens also has a month-long United States tour in March. This will be followed by stints in Europe, Africa and Japan later this year.
