Lady G Says ...'I Am Still Around'

CURTIS CAMPBELL, STAR Writer

Veteran dancehall artiste Lady G believes she is still a hit maker. According to the foundation dancehall artiste, despite not being visible on the local platform, she is never out of the music industry.

"I have always been doing my music non-stop, and I am still very much relevant and around. I am enjoying myself and freeing up my mind, I don't fight music because music is bigger than us," she said.

According to Lady G, despite not being on top of the hype in modern dancehall, her hard work has not gone unrecognised.

"Next month, a group of promoters have informed me that they are going to honour me and General Trees at Kirkvine, because they are aware that we have contributed to the music business; so there are genuine music lovers out there who are paying us attention," she said.

The artiste who recorded hits in the '90s like Ease Off, Breeze Off, disclosed that she has a new collaboration with reggae artiste Lutan Fyah called This Love that she predicts to be classic material.

"This collaboration is going to be timeless and I am going to push this song as far as I can, because I believe in it, it is soothing and relaxing. I just have this gut feeling that it is going to last long because I can never get tired of listening to it." She said.

Lady G and Lutan Fyah have done other collaborations, however this is the first that will be released by the artistes.

"Lutan and I are both from Spanish Town, basically the same community and he is like a brother to me. We have done other collaborations before, but this is the first one that will be released officially, so I suspect the impact is going to be great," she said.

Lady G gave Lutan Fyah credit for coming up with the concept of the song and expressed that there was chemistry with her role and the entire production.

"It's a man and woman thing, so it is the best collaboration for a male and a female, but during the recording process they felt that I was the best person to deal with it, and from I did my part it just fit in perfect," she said.

The artiste also revealed that a video for This Love will be shot in upcoming weeks.

Lady G is set to release a new single called Herbie, produced by Chiney K Production, and will leave the country in March for Linkage Awards in Bronx, New York.
