After taking somewhat of a hiatus from the dancehall industry, deejay Lisa Hyper says she is back to reclaim her spot.
The former Gaza member has been off the radar for over a year. While she has been on a break from the music industry, Lisa Hyper says she has been making links with hip-hop acts like Wyclef Jean, Dougie Fresh, Busta Rhymes and Bruk Up during her stint in the United States.
As for her return to the local scene, she said, "Mi neva plan fi neva come back. Dem caan mek mi run go nuh weh."
And now that she is back, she says plans are in high gear, as she wants to become more of an international artiste.
"I was underground, but now I am going international. I am not limiting myself to Jamaica," she told THE STAR.
So far, she says the music video for her Life Change collaboration with Lady Saw will be done in time for release in December.
Lisa Hyper added that she would also be releasing songs like Moving, Body Fit, Good Good Friday, Freak Show and Nah Leave Me, which is a collaboration with Amina Jane. She also said there were plans to do songs with Junior Reid and Khago.
"Mi just did a pick up weh mi lef off. Right now, everybody a fret cause dem neva know seh mi did a come back," she said.
Despite her very recent return, she said the reception has already been good.
"Dem seh out of sight, out of mind, but dat nuh work fi me cause mi have mi talent. It nuh stop fi me, me just a leave everything to God. I am already receiving an overwhelming reception. I came, I saw and I conquered," she said.
In the past, Lisa Hyper has had rivalries with other artistes, and in 2009, she did a song called Sting Aftermath, which was aimed at Spice, Ishawna, Baby Tash, Tifa, Twin of Twins, Stacious and Timberlee.
However, she is now singing a different tune.
"Mi always have some controversy. The clash thing, dem sup'm deh done fah. When mi did waan kill people (lyrically) and go a dem funeral, everybody run. Nobody nah go have Lisa as no pepper light artiste weh blink once a year when mi have mi good good one drop song dem," she said, while thanking her fans for being loyal to her.
Meanwhile, Lisa Hyper says she is also working on two albums. The first album is being done by Jam 2 and is almost finished. However, she was tight-lipped about the second album, which she says will be a more international album that will have collaborations with Lady Saw and Beenie Man.
The deejay says she is also looking forward to her birthday party, Freak Show, on November 23, as well as her first performance after her break on November 30.
