Dancehall artiste Mavado will be featured on Rick Ross' upcoming album, 'The Mastermind'.
According to Mavado, the feature is important as it will assist with the development of his international brand.
"Rick Ross is family, straight. Even though we are on different labels, him and Khaled have been rolling from day one, so we always around each other at the studio or events, or just hanging out. Khaled called Julian and said they found the record they want Mavado on and we knocked it out same time in the studio. "The exposure it brings across the board - airplay, on the net, in print, to new ears in the industry, is priceless," Mavado said.
The artiste disclosed that Rick Ross extended the offer a while back. However, they recently decided on the song that was most fitting for the self proclaimed Gully Gad.
"Ross told me a while ago he wanted me on TheMastermind album and Mafia Music III is a very important record for Ross. It's part of a trilogy of songs of that name, so to be asked to contribute creatively to it, is an important milestone in my career," he said.
The Mastermind album will be released on March 4, 2014. However, the artiste said private listening sessions have already been conducted to get feedback.
"We attended a listening party on South Beach for the whole album, and there was a select number of invitees in attendance - producers, artistes, bloggers, journalists and tastemakers.
"Mafia Music III had one of the best responses when it was played. It was in a theatre and each record was accompanied by visuals, on a big screen, relevant to the song being played. The images of Jamaica, Mavado and old gangsters, complemented the song perfectly and the crowd was jumping out of their seats when it was playing," the artiste said.
Mavado also collaborated with Maybach Music-signed rapper Meek Mill, alongside R&B new artiste, Sterling Simms, for Tell Her Again, which samples Barrington Levy.
The We The Best/Young Money artiste will also be featured on a track with T.I's artiste, Iggy Azalea's, that song will also be available on her upcoming album.
"I'm always working to extend the longevity and quality of my career. I always stay hungry for the game and for music so I'm constantly recording, for both Jamaica and overseas and doing features for other acts.
"I will be releasing several videos for the local tracks soon and my fans can look out for a video for Buss Guns, featuring Ace Hood very soon. I will be releasing my own mixtape on We The Best mixtape that Khaled is dropping. I also have a song produced by Dave Kelly, featuring Cham, Love Song. That song was just released and we are promoting it hard. so far, it has been getting crazy love all over the world," Mavado said.
