Mavado is currently foraging new grounds outside of dancehall music. He is slowly working into the groove of things on the United States pop culture scene.
Among his most recent efforts include Monday's premiere of the Suicidal/Aktion Pak video, a collaboration with popular producer/personality DJ Khaled.
The video had its premiere on the hugely popular www.worldstarhiphop.com. and has so far received 4,617,745 views.
Suicidal which features a cameo appearance from Cash Money Records CEO, Birdman, is featured on Kiss The Ring, the sixth studio album of DJ Khaled.
In the past few days, the 'gangster for life' has been a part of numerous promotional activities on a 'promo tour' for the album.
Angie's Backyard BBQ, Hot 97's The Funk Flex Show and SiriusXM satellite radio are some of the places that he was present at.
Mavado also appeared on Monday's airing of BET's 106 & Park alongside DJ Khaled and a host of popular hip-hop acts such as T-Pain, Ace Hood, French Montana and Maybach Music Group member Meek Mill to talk about Kiss The Ring, which was released yesterday.
On his 106 & Park debut, Mavado spoke of his thoughts on DJ Khaled and the album.
"I got so many favourite songs on that album you know. The whole album is just my favourite, you know (what) I'm saying. Working with DJ Khaled, DJ Khaled understand Kingston, Jamaica, where I'm from," he said when asked by female co-host Rocsi about his favourite song on the album.
Last year September, Mavado appeared on the Angie Martinez show on New York's Hot 97 radio station and announced that he had signed a deal with DJ Khaled's We the Best Music Group.
While Under We The Best, Mavado has released songs such as Soulja Girl, Emergency featuring Ace Hood and Survivor featuring Akon.
However, in May, Birdman announced that the We The Best label was signed to Cash Money Records, making Mavado an affiliate of one of the biggest American record labels.
