Miss Kitty to host Link Up radio station

Host and MC extraordinaire Miss Kitty has made history as the first female lead host on Link Up radio station.

Miss Kitty began her stint as the host of the 'Mawning Link up with Miss Kitty' on March 4 and, so far, the feedback has been overwhelming.

"Squeeze (the owner of the station) reached out to me and expressed his interest in my talent and ability to 'fluff' up his station. After much back and forth and deliberation we finally came to a mutual agreement," the 'Fluffy Diva' told THE WEEKEND STAR.

With Link Up radio broadcasting in New York and the Tri-state areas, Miss Kitty said she designed a show that would incorporate a Caribbean vibe.

"The show is predominantly Jamaican but it has a Caribbean vibe to it. We carry entertainment sections, news, topical issues and, of course, I bring my own comedic style to the show, and we ensure that we do everything in a capsule of decency," she added.

She went on to state that though she initially thought there would be a negative backlash, the reception has been overwhelmingly positive.

flabbergasted

"I'm really flabbergasted, but in a good way. The response has been really good. People who didn't know of me, or only vaguely heard about me, now have an opportunity to get to know me better. I'm the youngest and the only lead female to be on Link Up radio so, come what may, I have made history on the station," Miss Kitty said.

With all the controversy surrounding Link Up radio and the public fallout between the owner and Ragashanti, Miss Kitty is adamant the controversy did not start because of her.

"I was contacted before the whole Raga saga. It was during my negotiations that the controversy between him and Squeeze developed. I hold Raga in high esteem and I have great respect for him. Mi and him a come from far, so the issue with him and Squeeze has nothing to do with me.

"Raga saw it fit to resign and I wish him all the best. I must commend him also because some persons were making some very disparaging remarks about me, and he went in my defence to tell them to not bash me. I am very humbled by that and I am glad I have his blessings," she said.

Mawning Link Up with Miss Kitty airs from 6-10 a.m., daily.
