In a recent Onstage interview, international dancehall artiste Cham said he had bigger songs in the 90s than Mr G and Red Rat, but had less promotion. Cham's claim was very disturbing to the veteran Mr G, and he told The STAR that Cham needs to know himself.
According to Mr G, he and Cham was not in a competition because they represented two separate labels.
"Cham was with Mad House and Red Rat and I were at Main Street, he was seeing us as competition but honestly Cham was not in our spectrum, we did a run di place and him neva have a bad song, if there was to be a competition it would have to be between Bounty Killer and Beenie Man," he said.
According Mr G, Cham's claim that he (Mr G) and Red Rat had more promotion is frivolous, and that the comment could lead people to think that Main Street paid to make their songs become hits.
"Cham come talk bout wi did have more promotion, like him try sey a money mek wi did a run di place. Him fi know sey a wi song dem mek wi run di place because money can't make people love music ... when wi a buss the place him piggyback pon Bounty Killer career fi buss," he said.
give props where it is deserved
Mr G believes Cham's comment was unfair and that the artiste should give props where it is deserved.
"Him fi just give man dem glory, I grew up in both Jungle and Sherlock suh him know sey mi a real youth, yu suppose to be fair in music and give a man props when him deserve it, much as mi and him nuh good right now mi naah guh sey Cham a nuh good artiste," seemingly upset he continued.
"Yu nuh mek music, give every man dem props, mi dun duh MTV, BET and get mi own page in Vibe magazine before yu, suh just understand yu self man," he said.
The artiste also said that if Cham should call his name again, he would blatantly diss him in a song.
"Wi buss before him, him fi show respect, mi nuh diss people, mi humble through the years, but if some man a step outa dem boundary a mad thing," he said.
The STAR contacted Cham and according to the artiste he was not being disrespectful in no way.
"Mr G alright, mi not even ago comment pon dat, mi neva really a try come off as being disrespectful, all I was trying to say was that they had more PR, suh no comment on that," he said.
Mr G is gearing up to release his latest single on Seanizzle's Wet Up Rhythm called Giggle Up Yu Bumpa and a medley video for Clean Everyday featuring Beenie Man.
