Portmore Dancehall Awards a success

Culture artiste, Jah Bouks, won the award for Song of the Year with his hit single 'Call Angola' at the Magnum Portmore Awards event at Club Ntyce in Portmore, St Catherine, last Saturday.

Jah Bouks was presented with his award bySophia Bernard-Fairman, group brand manager of Fortified Wines at J. Wray & Nephew Limited.

For the third year running, incarcerated entertainer, Vybz Kartel, took the title of Male DJ of the Year, while the female DJ of the Year prize went to Macka Diamond.

Flava Unit Sound System copped Sound of the Year for the third year running.

Club of the Year: Club Ntyce

Most outstanding Crew: Boys to Girl

The event was hosted by Badda Bling and Bugle.

Lifetime awards went to Cable Station presenter, Lady Diana; Mama B from Sun City Radio; and Dancehall veteran, Terror Fabulous.

The conceptualiser of the show, Dave 'Tall man' Scott, said, "The award show is geared towards highlighting the major players and the small man in the dancehall arena."
