Veteran reggae crooner Sanchez said he is back to reclaim what is rightfully his.
In an interview with THE WEEKEND STAR, Sanchez revealed that he was working on two new albums.
"I'm working on two new albums. One is a dancehall one Like a General and the other is a gospel album There is no other like you Lord. I have completed all voicing for the dancehall one and I'm just in the studio mixing now," Sanchez said.
Both are slated to be released this year with Like a General dropping in July and There is no other like you Lord, slated for an October release. Both albums were produced by Sanchez, who was also quick to point out that he made most of the rhythms.
"I have been working with Rodney Lyon, he is an engineer and co-writer on the albums. Three of the tracks from 'Like a General' have already been released, Nuh Kotch, Like a General and an adapted song, I Can't Make You Love Me, which was originally done by Bonnie Raitt," Sanchez said.
wickedest ting
This is one of his best works to date.
"A one of di wickedest ting you're gonna hear from Sanchez, it's gonna remind people of when I just came out, believe that. It's going to be fresh and different. I can't wait to see how people are going to handle it, it's gonna be off the chain," Sanchez told THE WEEKEND STAR.
Although he has been absent from the musical scene for a while, Sanchez said he is now back and fully prepared.
"I got complacent and comfortable, and from you get too complacent, dem say you drop off a shape. I think I took it much too easy, but I'm coming back to reclaim what's rightfully mine," he said.
The gospel album, Sanchez said he chose October as the release date because he wants it to be available to everyone for the Christmas season.
The artiste, who has now branched out into producing, said he has had his share of bad handling, but was prepared to give producing a try.
"I've had my share of working for producers and taking whatever was given. I did it to feel some of what the producers were feeling. I'm still working with other producers, but I decided to go into production because I love music. I've had my share of bad handling and not being paid what I'm supposed to. I decided that I want to produce two to three albums before I die, to prove something to myself," Sanchez explained to THE WEEKEND STAR.
In the meantime, Sanchez said he is gearing up for his European tour and is also looking forward to Sting and all the big shows in Jamaica.
"I can see where a lot of people have been praying for me over the years, the prayer is working, continue praying for me and I promise to keep delivering," he said.
Both albums are slated to be released under Sanchez's independent label, Sanmonik label.
