As social media websites become increasingly popular, dancehall artistes continue to fall victim to online scams. The latest victim is KipRich.

The artiste says he recently became aware of someone who has been impersonating him on Facebook.

"Somebody create a Facebook page and a tell people seh dem can book show. Dem a act as me. Mi just find out bout the page but dem have it up deh fi bout seven or eight months," he told THE STAR, noting that he found out about the page on Sunday.

"People link mi and a tell mi seh dem a talk to me pon the page. Even people weh know me a seh based pon how mi a respond, it couldn't be me. Dem a book shows, dubplates and jingles."

Interestingly, he said the page already had about 3,000 likes. However, he said the first call he got about the fake page was from fellow dancehall artiste Ninja Kid.

"He said he was talking to me on Facebook (recently) and I said I wasn't on Facebook. Then a dancer link me and seh sup'm wrong. You know how dem scamma ya work? People coulda feel like artistes a tek dem money and nah deliver," KipRich said, noting that the page has been reported.

While he is yet to get a complaint from someone who has been scammed via the fake page, KipRich says he wants people to desist from booking him through Facebook and other social-media websites.

"I am trying to make people aware that they shouldn't book any show on Facebook. Don't send no money go give dem people deh. To book me, they can call 437-9592 or dem can link Headline Entertainment or Outaroad Records," he told THE STAR.

Meanwhile, he says he recently released the music video for Smartphone and will release the video for Uplift Mi Corner in another week.
