Six weeks after its release by Atlantic Records, Sean Paul's latest track Got 2 Luv U, is making strides in the US entering the billboard Hot 100 charts at No 93.
According to the latest iTunes charts from Billboard magazine, Got 2 Luv U is currently the number one downloaded song in Switzerland. In nearby France, it holds down the No 2 slot.
Got 2 Luv U is also been doing well in Germany (No 4), Holland (No 6), Belgium (No 7) and Spain where it is No 8. The song is also said to be showing favourable returns in Norway and Austria where it holds the No 19 and 24 positions, respectively. In Australia, where Sean Paul also has a solid fan base, Got 2 Luv U's latest standing is No 45.
The single, which is a collaboration with Alexis Jordan, was released in August. It also went as high as No 26 on the Billboard rap chart.
Steve Wilson, a long time member of Sean Paul's management team, disclosed that there will be two additional releases from his fifth album, which is due out in February.
Sean Paul is no stranger to international charts. No Jamaican artiste has matched his prowess as a hit-maker in the last decade, a time of great success for dancehall music. His golden run started in 2002 with the multi-platinum sophomore Dutty Rock album which yielded the hit songs, Gimme The Light, Get Busy and Like Glue.
He also teamed with Beyonce on the number one pop smash, Baby Boy. His follow-up album, The Trinity, was another platinum-selling hit.
It produced big songs such as Temperature, Give It Up To Me and We Be Burnin. Sean Paul's most recent album, Imperial Blaze, was released by Atlantic Records in 2008.
Wilson said Sean Paul is fine-tuning his skills as a producer with his Dutty Rock label. His first project behind the 'boards' was the Blaze Fia rhythm which featured songs by Elephant Man, Assassin, Chino, Tarrus Riley and Ward 21. Sean Paul is currently promoting the single in the US and will soon move on to Europe.
