Popular American rapper Snoop Dogg is currently in the island for recording purposes.

Snoop Dogg, who is known for songs like What's My Name and Gin and Juice, is reportedly doing recordings at Geejam Studios in Portland, a well-placed source has said.

Although THE STAR was unable to get an official comment due to Geejam's private nature, a video posted by Snoop Dogg on his YouTubechannelhas confirmed the visit.

On February 6, the rapper posted a video entitled "Snoop Dogg Puffs One To Celebrate Bob Marley's Birthday". In the video, which is a little over a minute long, he rocked and bopped his head while singing along Bob Marley's So Much Trouble In The World.

Between puffs, Snoop Dogg wished Marley a happy birthday and even referred to himself as 'Bob Marley reincarnated'.

"Happy birthday to the one and only Bob Marley," he said.

He continued: "If you don't know, then now you know. Go buy you some Bob Marley and enjoy yourself and enjoy your day. Feels good to be able to relax and lay back to some of these memorable music. I am on my way to Jamaica y'all to do this record. It's called Reincarnated. Peace, love and soul."

Only last month, Alicia Keys was recording at the same studio, which also houses three deluxe cabins, one suite, a self-contained villa, a state-of-the-art recording complex, a gym, spa, swimmingpool(sanwood only) and a Jamaican-Asian fusion restaurant and bar called the Bushbar. Based on the private nature of the location, a STAR source was unable to divulge much about Keys' visit and recordings.

Later in January, international singer Akon also graced the island. News of his short visit broke out on social networking website, Twitter, when the singer posted a picture of himself with Damian, Julian and Stephen Marley at the Bob Marley Museum in St Andrew.

Along with the picture he posted on Twitter, Akon also tweeted, "In Jamaica making history with Stephen, Damian, and Julian Marley! My brothers!!!! One Love." He also tweeted, "In Jamaica visiting the Bob Marley Museum" and "Standing in front of Bob Marley's home," with accompanying pictures.
