DANCEHALL artiste Stylysh is quickly gaining a loyal, rabid following with her single Me A Wife which has generated over 400,000 hits on YouTube.
Stylysh first gained national attention when she placed in the top five of the Magnum Kings and Queens of the Dancehall contest.
"The video for the single Me a Wife has been getting good rotation," she said in a release.
She said it was a blessing to be on the same riddim with the heavyweight Gaza acts.
"The Lost Angel riddim has really launched my career out there. I believe the songs kinda compliment each other, all the girls on the riddim are dealing with relationships, from different aspects, so it connect in the streets, plus with Vybz Kartel, Shawn Storm and Popcaan on it, it put me inna the big leagues, and show me can hold my own out there," she said.
The Lost Angel riddim also spawned a number 1 hit for Popcaan with 'Only Man She Wants' and as a result of this, Stylysh's song on the same riddim has been popping up on playlists on US radio stations.
"Almost every hour mi get a bb about it, or somebody call me and say dem hear it here and foreign, so this is my time to follow through and make more hits," the accountant said.
Managed by Billboard chart-topping producer Rohan 'Snowcone' Fuller, she has big plans for 2012 especially since a lot of respected producers have begun to send beats her way. She wants to find a way to make all the dancehall buzz translate into actual sales of her music on iTunes and gigs overseas.
She also plans to shoot a music video for the single, Fall in Love, for producer Elvis Redwood later this month.
"I have been getting some great feedback on Fall in Love, it has over 50,000 spins on youtube and a couple of Internet radio stations in New York, Connecticut and Boston have been playing it because it is on a hip hop-dancehall kinda beat. People gravitate to it, I did a show in Harbour View the other day and Sizzla took the mike and say mi need fi do over the song and mi do it two-three times...a lot of people can relate to it and mi get a lot of feedback on Facebook about it as well," she said.
