Tifa to release debut album this summer

The year 2011 was a memorable year for dancehall artiste Tifa. Not only did she score multiple hits locally but she also had a number one single on the BBC1Xtra and MTV Base charts.

"This year is going to be a busy year for me because I plan to accomplish more on the international scene. I also want to tap into other markets as well," Tifa confided in a recent interview.

The deejay/singer whose hit list includes Move Yuh Body, Matie Wine, Dash Out and Get Flat, is preparing for the release of her debut album this summer. The album, which is still untitled, will feature collaborations as well as solo efforts.

Tifa, who late last year signed a worldwide publishing deal, says she wants the album to tell a story.

Tifa recently earned eight nominations in the Youth View Awards, which will take place on February 4 at the National Indoor Sports Centre. Commenting on the nominations, she said, "I am grateful for the recognition but I am more excited about dressing up on the night of the awards".

Tifa recently recorded songs on rhythm projects for producers Ward 21, Washroom Entertainment, ZJ Chrome and Stephen McGregor.

According to Rodney Hill, A&R representative for Sinclar, the album will feature collaborations with Pitbull, British pop singer Sophie Ellis Bextor, Dragonfly and Snoop Dogg, among others.

The album's first single Rock the Boat features Fatman Scoop, Pitbull and singer Dragonfly. The track is number one on the iTunes dance chart in France.
