TVJ’s Michael Sharpe enters not guilty plea

Michael Sharpe the news anchor for Television Jamaica’s flagship Prime Time News entered a not guilty plea for the charge of assault occasioning bodily harm when he appeared in the Spanish Town RM Court today. Details are that Sharpe was called to intervene in a dispute between a female complainant and her boyfriend on May 14 in Portmore, St. Catherine. Sharpe reportedly held on to the woman and she was left injured after falling. A report was made and on August 30, Sharpe a District Constable was charged following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions. Sharpe was offered bail in the sum of $50,000 and as part of his condition of bail he has been warned not to contact the complainant after reports surfaced that during the investigations he made efforts to do so. He is scheduled to return to Court on November 19.
