University Professor Defends Kartel's Book For Schools

Professor Carolyn Cooper has stepped forward to defend her decision for educators to introduce Vybz Kartel’s book Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto in schools.

The University of the West Indies professor is being widely criticized for her controversial decision. Nonetheless, Professor Cooper is steadfast to her choice and is imploring others to read the book which she describes as an excellent text before any judgmental attempts.

Vybz kartel’s co-author, Michael Dawson has echoed some of the points made by Professor Carolyn Cooper.  According to Dawson, Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto is a good text for History or Social Studies.

Vybz Kartel’s book Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto was officially launched on July 7 in 2012 across from the Horizon Remand Center on Spanish Town Road.

Vybz Kartel is currently behind bars where he’s awaiting trial on two separate murder charges. The deejay has been incarcerated since 2011.

Kartel is expected to return to court in May.
