Jamaican sprint superstar Usain Bolt has now entered the history books by becoming the first track and field athlete to have 16 million Facebook followers.

Bolt who returned to training last week, is 22nd overall on the list of the top 300 sports persons compiled by socialbakers.com.

He is also the only track and field star in the top 250 with Britain’s Jessica Ennis-Hill ranked 294th with 1.4 million.

With a following of just under 16.1 million, Bolt is ahead of the likes of Maria Sharapova, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Angel Di Maria, Robin Van Persie, Dwyane Wade, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Luis Suarez, Mario Balotelli, Kevin Durant, Michael Phelps and Floyd Mayweather.

The 28 year old, ranked 22nd on the list of athletes, holds the no.138th spot on the overall list making him the second most popular Jamaican behind Reggae legend Bob Marley who is 11th on the overall list of celebrity/athletes with a huge following of 71.9 million.

Top spot on the list of athletes (and second on the overall list of celebrity/athletes) is held by Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo with over 100 million followers.

Barcelona and Argentina midfielder Lionel Messi is second with 73.8 million with retired England captain David Beckham holding the number three spot with 49.5 million followers.

Neymar (47.6 million), Kaka (31.9 million), Ronaldinho (27.8 million), Michael Jordan (27.08 million) and Mesut Ozil (26.3 million) complete the top 10.

The top 20 is completed by David Luiz (25 million), Wayne Rooney (24.8 million), Sachin Tendulkar (23.04 million), Andres Iniesta (22.8 million), Iker Casillas (22.5 milion), Lebron James (21.6 million), Gareth Bale (20.9 million), Kobe Bryant (20.6 million), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (19.7 million) and Virat Kohli (17.7 million).
