Amid the chaos surrounding her current situation, with a pending court case, a confident Vanessa Bling has expressed great optimism for her latest studio effort, which is a gospel track titled 'Mercy on Me'.

The song was voiced by Jermaine Reid and is her first officially released track of the kind since her 2010 musical breakthrough with One Man, which features incarcerated dancehall star Vybz Kartel.

Vanessa Bling, known to most as Gaza Slim, said the track shows her versatility as an artiste and has already been receiving positive feedback on social media.

The song was released earlier this week on her label, VB Music.

"It (Mercy on Me) is showing the other side of me and is expressing myself as a versatile artiste. As what most people believe, I have the vocal ability to do other genres," she said.

The former Oberlin high school student says she is aware that the public may have mixed reactions towards this attempt, given her associations, but she opined that it was something she had always wanted to do.

"People will always judge me because of the group I associate with, but no one is perfect, and people should not just get up and judge. get to know them first," she said.

"However, I always talk about God and I always go to church. Every Sunday, whether or not I go to church, I throw my offering," she added.

Pertaining to the making of the song, Vanessa Bling, real name Vawnessa Sadler, said her initial attempt was to do over a Grace Thriller song, but she was advised by Reid to do an original instead.

She also said that both she and Kartel had recorded a gospel song prior to his arrest in 2011. The song happens to be a cover version of Shirley Ceasar's Can't Even Walk.

"I should have released a gospel song from long time. Adidja and I did one together, but it was not released. To be honest, when I go to studio to voice, I work based on the vibes I get. I was going to do a sing-over of a Grace Thriller, but then Jermaine pointed out that I should just record an original and I followed," she said.

The 23-year-old has also parted ways with Elvis Redwood in relation to bookings and says for now, persons can contact her at vawnessabling23@gmail.com for such purposes.

Also on the cards is a charity venture, which she hopes will attract the interests, of her musical peers.

"Recently, I went to the country and did some charity in 9 Mile (near Bob Marley Primary and Junior high), and I plan to go back there. So I am inviting all to contribute. You can drop off donations of any kind at ZIP 103 FM or contact me via email," she said.

Gaza Slim is also known for her 2012 hit, Independent Ladies.
