AFTER a brief hiatus, veteran female deejay Lady G is back in the studios.

The artiste, whose real name is Janice Fyffe, has released singles Herbie, This Love (with Lutan Fyah), Guilty (a combination with St Lucian singer Q Shandeya) and a soca-flavoured duet with Trinidadian entertainer, Farmer Nappy.

Tracks Herbie and This Love are receiving fair amount of rotation on both local and overseas radio stations.

While not at the forefront of the entertainment business, Lady G said she will not divert from the message music at the expense of chasing the almighty dollar.

"My music has to have a message. It has to elevate people. My music has to have a solution," she told the Observer.

Reflecting on the state of today's dancehall music and the negative messages that are sometimes transmitted by her juniors, Lady G, was philosophical.

"Everybody is chasing the money and they say sex sells, but there is still space for a positive message. Money is not all. I have to be happy with myself," she said.

Lady G has been entertaining audiences for upwards of 25 years and the according to her, the fire still burns inside the same way it did when she made her entrance into the dancehall scene with her first hit, Nuff Respect.

"I am by no means a spent force. Maturity, motherhood and life has sharpened my outlook and focus and I am travelling at my own pace. " Lady G, who hinted that her fourth album is in the production stages, said.

This month the deejay will be in Canada to promote her new singles with a couple of performances and she is also set to perform at the upcoming Jerk Festival in Portland on March 26.

Lady G will also be honoured by her peers for her longevity and positive contribution to the music during a concert at the Kirkvine Sports Complex in Manchester in May.

She also hinted that plans are under way to form a Lady G Foundation which she plans to use as a vehicle to carry out charitable work.

"I want to work with schools and old age homes. I want to do charitable stuff. I am at that point in my life," she said.
