It appears that dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel will spend another Christmas in jail after the Supreme Court revealed today that his murder trial will go into the New Year.
Kartel was arrested in September 2011 for the alleged murder of 27-year-old dancer Clive 'Lizard' Williams a month earlier.
Today Justice Lennox Campbell told the 12-member jury to confer among themselves and give their input on the days on which the trial should proceed during the legal vacation which starts on December 20 and ends on January 6.
He told them it did not appear as if the state will be able to complete the case before the holidays begin and that it was likely the matter would be adjourned next Friday.
The judge said so far it has been suggested that the court should reconvene on December 30 or on January 2.
Mario Assad, the group chief technology officer at telecommunications provider Digicel, testified at the trial in the Home Circuit Court today.
After his testimony, the jurors were told to return next week Tuesday afternoon.
On Monday the court will continue to hear the evidence of former head of the police cyber crimes unit Sergeant Patrick Linton in the absence of the jury.
Linton who has been testifying since last week Thursday was given a break today.
Kartel whose real name is Adidja Palmer is charged jointly with fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell also known as Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, Shane Williams and Andre St John for the August 16, 2011 alleged murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.
The Crown is alleging that Williams was beaten to death over two missing guns.
