Vybz Kartel Trial: Forensic Scientist Says Kartel’s House Purposely Set Ablaze

The murder trial of Dancehall DJ Vybz Kartel resumed this morning in the Home Circuit Court.

Special constable Kayan Murphy continued her testimony in the murder case involving dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartel.

Constable Murphy says that following the arrest of Kartel and others at a New Kingston hotel on September 30 2011, her initial statement, written in October, did not include the discovery of two cell phones in the hotel room occupied by one of the men.

At the last session of the court, Murphy testified to having found two cell phones in the room with the men.

The court also heard testimony from forensic scientist from the Government forensic laboratory, Nicola Brown-Baxter, who examined the scene at 7 Swallow Field Avenue in Kingston. This address is the alleged murder scene of Clive "Lizard" Williams.

Brown Baxter, also a fire expert testified that fire was set in the garage leading to the living room and two bedrooms which also caused damage to the bathrooms. Her final analysis was that the fire was deliberately set due to the evidence of fuel at the location.

Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm along with three others are on trial for the murder of Clive Williams.

Tomorrow when the case resumes, the court is expected to hear testimonies from witnesses from cell phone companies.
