Artistes seek 'family time' this Christmas

Although the streets are filled with green and orange cloth associated with the upcoming general election, dancehall and reggae artistes are still spreading the Christmas cheer, especially with family.

While he will still be doing some work, RDX's Renigade says time will be spent with family.

"Just party and enjoy myself and spend time with the family 'cause I don't get much of that. It's the first time in four years that we will be spending Christmas here (in Jamaica) and we hope to spend it with family and friends," he told THE STAR.

But there is still a lot of work in the mix, as Renigade says the duo is working on an upcoming one-drop album and are also preparing for their European tour that will kick off in January.

Rising reggae artiste Romain Virgo also has family on his mind.

"Mi ago spend time wid mi family. Mi live inna Kingston now so mi nuh get fi go home as much. So this Christmas mi just ago go home, put on some big pot inna di square, and music a play and just hold a vibe," he said.

He added that the festivities would take place today because he is billed to perform at the Jagra GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza at Independence Park, Black River, tomorrow.

Macka Diamond too will have a busy Christmas night as she will be making an appearance in Trelawny before performing at the Jagra GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza.

And although her mother and son are not on the island, she still plans to spend the time with other family members and friends.

"The regular, celebrate Christmas onstage. During the day, I am going to cook some Christmas dinner or go somewhere for dinner. It's a more relax vibe until showtime," she said.

Stacious also plans to get in some family time because she says she is usually busy during the rest of the year. As for shows, she says this year has been quiet.

"This season is quiet, maybe it's the election," she said, adding that some staple shows like Teen Splash are not being held.

Nonetheless, Stacious says she has another reason to be happy at this time.

"It's my birthday (on December 28). I am looking forward to my birthday more than Christmas," she told THE STAR
