Beenie returns to celebrate birthday

International recording superstar Beenie Man returned to the island yesterday to celebrate his birthday with a party at Oneil's Place on Hagley Park Road, St Andrew, today.

"The event ah go mad, all ladies come out early, yu free before midnight and no worry if yu nuh have no money, Beenie Man ah the girls dem sugar," John Hype, who is promoting the event alongside producer Tristan Palmer, said.

Music will be provided by Stone Love, Chris Diamond, Boom Boom and Sky Juice. The deejay celebrated his actual birthday last Thursday, but he commemorates the occasion today.

Beenie Man has been experiencing a resurgence in his career over the past few months. He has been able to secure his US work permit, he closed this year's edition of Dancehall Night of Reggae Sumfest and he has a new single, Dweet Again which is one of the hottest singles scorching FM radio in Jamaica today. The video for the single soared to #1 last week on CVM Hitlist while the single is #4 on FIWI Choice Top Ten and #2 on the ER Dancehall charts. The single also stayed at #1 on the HYPE TV Top 20 charts for three weeks.

"The European tour went very well. He performed in front of an audience of almost 40,000 at a festival in France. He is booked to perform at the Mingles nightclub at an IRIE JAM radio event. Beenie Man is in demand right now, especially with the Dweet Again single getting a lot of airplay from stations along the east coast of the USA," a representative of MD Entertainment said in a release.

Beenie Man has performed on a series of shows over the past three weeks that saw him criss-crossing two continents, with shows in the US, in Canada and in Europe.

In the meantime, another single, Wine, featuring Boom Boom is also #8 on the HYPE TV Top 20 charts. The Summer Is Here video was released last week, and has several thousand hits on YouTube.
