Bermudan born artiste Collie Buddz has launched a radio station in his homeland.

The station, Vibe 103 was launched on March 30 in a joint effort between Collie Buddz and his brother.

In an interview with THE STAR, Collie Buddz said the new radio station had been in the works for three years now. "Me and my brother DJ Smokey originally had the idea about three years ago. We felt we could really bring some nice energy to Bermuda radio so now, three years later, we are finally on air."

Although the radio station is still in its early days, Collie Buddz says the reception so far has been great. "The reception has been very positive! We are utilising the social media like twitter and facebook to involve our listeners and it's starting to blow up. We also have the iPhone, Blackberry and Android apps for free download from our website www.vibe103.com," he said.

Collie Buddz, who was born Colin Harper, says that his radio station plays every genre of music. He credits his radio station and its musical choices to his love of local radio station ZIP fm, which he listens to on the road while touring. "We are similar in the sense we have live DJ's who play throughout the day, playing every genre. We are a Caribbean contemporary hit radio station," he told THE STAR.

Collie Buddz has high hopes that Vibe 103 will achieve longevity. "Long-term goals for the station is just to be your one stop for entertainment and good music. You don't have to change your dial ... ever! I just love bringing good vibes to the island, that's really what it's all about. Just good uplifting vibes! A station that makes you feel good!"

Although he has branched out into a new venture, Collie Buddz is still very much active in music. He is currently working on a new album that is set to be released this year.
