Comments made by Broadcasting Commission’s executive director Cordel Green, has sparked much chatter among industry players.

According to the Jamaica Observer, Green said the organization has made recommendations to the Government to limit, where necessary, the number of songs produced by disc jockeys on local radio.

Cordel Green says while they are not against a radio or television personality who acts upon their talents, the Broadcasting Commission is concerned about the amount of control that disc jocks have over what is being played.

Dj Liquid who got his approval following his single “Wifey Walk Out” says he’s not fazed by what the Broadcasting Commission says. 

Deejay Sunshine who recently made the transition as a recording artiste expressed similar sentiments. 

Radio Zeejay Bambino also known as Trevor Off-Key argued that one cannot force an individual to stifle his or her talent. 

 But is this an illegal action by radio disc jocks who opt to play their own music or rhythms? Is there a legislation that stipulates that such actions warrant a penalty or fine?
